Log 4

Had my surgery yesterday. Survived (obviously). Before leaving, my surgeon kindly told me to never come back, as i'm "too young to be in the O.R. so much." I liked her...she made my surgery a Dora-esque adventure. She cracked a lovely joke about taking out a kidney & selling it. or practicing with a liver, since she hasnt done one since '09. I agreed as long as we share the profits. >_>

Boobs are hella sore now. Downside, I had hoped this wonderfully necessary surgery, however dire, would result in a smaller set. I cant say for sure because i'm still bandaged, but they dont look any smaller -_-;;

Upside? I cant do any lifting until July. July. ooooh...there's gonna be alot of upset folks at my job. "Jax can you bring us 3 reems of 20lb paper stacks?" Followed by *blank stare* and concluding with *walk away*

I'm just hoping the soreness/pain subsides soon. feeling hella gimped out.

Where's the hydrocodone???

Back to Basics

Wow, i've been gone for a real minute. And my fellow bloggers are just letting me sleep on this thing! I guess i've been overly busy lately, that can account for it. i'm actually very proud of myself. My plan to expand my socializing circle is going quite well. I've actually spent the last week "dispatching" my life - swapping out different people for different days to work through their availability and mine. And it's been amazing. I've made myself some new friends, although i think the result is a big gap between me and some of the old. Things change. People change. It's a part of growing up right? Such is life.

Work is also interfering with me playing the part of a 24 year old.I feel like a real adult fucking around with this job. i'm working almost 12 hours a day 5 days a week. Yea guys, i'm gonna be tired. Sorry I cant hang like u do all the time. Sorry that i need sleep to get up @ 2 in the am. Adding on my brand new internship (i'm trying to finish off this other degree now, i've found my muse), time is short. For now. As i've said before on twitter, I'm gonna be stockpiling my $ now. I see trouble on the horizon at work, and I want myself safe-guarded just in case. I dont need anything going awry on MY end.

I think i'd like to go back and get my palm read. Maybe this weekend again, or one day next week. I'd like an update on my future, to see if anything changed.

Overtime

as my job steals the time i have to spend with these two little buggers. My Clay and my Roc-E.

He turned four yesterday :0) My <333333

I wouldnt call it an even trade because A) i'm basically giving up the one day a week I have to spend with them. Very unsettling. and B) i basically have to work 6 days. until they find a replacement. or until July gets here. Whichever comes first. I hope they find a replacement sooner cuz um...6 days will wear on me fast. i dont care how much "OT" it is.

As soooon as i dont need this job anymore/have enough $ saved up/get scooped up by sum handsome fella, i'm going right back to what I know and love. and thats those buggers. Watch me!

Possibilities

I think...I might be in lust with one of my drivers.

And i've come to terms with that, and am quite ok, considering he affirmed that he's quite in lust too.

That makes for fun conversation during the work hours =0)

....is that bad? or just naughty

Winter Wonderland

The snow makes work bittersweet.

Drivers can pick passengers up dumb late and not be penalized.

But dumb passengers decide to still go to the beauty salon instead of cancelling despite the 3 inches of white falling to meet the 3 inches already accumulated.

It should be a generally easy day.

Idle Hands

I realized today that I havent updated my blog in awhile. What I mean by update isnt the typical random news story or quip, but an actual update on me. And I found myself with a decent amount of downtime today. You know what they say about idle hands? I'm putting mine to work.

I took my first day off from work last week. It wasnt a real day off, as it was a required absence to take care of some carpal tunnel "mishappenings" in my wrists (my right wrist is still bandaged/wrapped at the moment). I'm still fairly new at my job so I was scared shitless to take a day off. With work the way it is lately - and given what happened at my last place of employment - I was pretty sure upon attempting a return to work, I would have nowhere to return to. Almost confirming my beliefs, I returned to work friday, arm all covered up, to find a n00b in my chair. In. my. chair. Not even at a different desk. My superior, Gabe, informs me (to my short-lived relief) that i'm training this n00b, he's going to be a new dispatcher. Huzzah -_-

Four hours in, rough 8am, I get called upstairs to see the big boss. The owner. The man that signs my paychecks. I died tried to maintain as i trudged upstairs. Now you have to understand John (Jesus of Empire), is a small man. maybe an inch taller than me - 29 years old - and the owner. of a 150k company. Yea, intimidating. Waiting to hear him say 'we found someone else to do your shift, your dismissed', he looks up at me and says "Everyone has nothing but good things to say about you, I've approved you for a raise, going back to the start of the week". Picking my jaw up, I thank him, sign with my left hand, and head back downstairs to do more training.

I officially make $13/hr, with 5 O/T hrs built into my schedule, at $19/hr. I love having a job that isnt shady, and appreciates the work its employees do.

....it doesnt hurt that alot of my drivers are just plain sexy, thereby exceptionally easy to work with. I. love it.

Sidenote - they had a nice meeting today, and thanks to my man on the inside, i've discovered that they all agree that I definitely know what I'm doing and want me to dispatch them. Lucky for me someone thinks its criminal to have a single person dispatch 36 some-odd drivers all over the five four most important boros that make up NYC.

I'm really amazed at just how much I love this job.

Query

A) ...Arizona Cardinals are NFC champs. take that take that Eagle fans.

B) WHY is it still snowing? I have work in 8 hours! i dont need my drivers slipping and sliding their asses everywhere. ....they're too pretty for that =0D

Working for the Weekend

I worked my first holiday ever this week. I spent Thanksgiving and (thankfully) Black Friday in the office. I know that paycheck next week will be super sexy... On some bullshit though, a customer actually (we all think) drove a driver's blood pressure so high, that he started having chest pains and ended up in the hospital. And while EMS is working on saving this man's life, this whore has the nerve to call and complain, that she's still waiting to get home. I'm sorry miss. Pardon us for trying to keep a human being in the land of the living. Fuck you ma'am, you can walk home. On Black Friday. With all of your bags. In the dead of night. IN manhattan. I'll keep an eye out for your cameo on the 11pm news. In that case however, he survived to recover quietly in the hospital overnight. Its a shame how little i'm concerned for her well being right now however.

Its a shame that poor wal-mart guy got trampled to death though. How can 10,000 people just storm into a store like that. No one saw him get run over? No one noticed that they werent stepping on a hard, flat plastic surface? No one saw that he couldnt breathe and was clutching his chest? No one stopped or even paused to give him a hand, help him up? I hope that someone does serve time for that...it makes no sense for people to be that stupidly aggressive and completely dismissive of someone else's well being over a bloody, hd/flat-screen/cooks your food/lcd/spits fire @ your enemies, television. Really and truly, it is not that serious. You deserve everything you get. Personal opinion of course.

I want to see someone fault the employee on this one. "Oh my god, how could he? Why would he try and open those doors, seeing the mob of salivating beings?" Yea? thats the argument?

3 things

1) anyone that knows me knows that i don't cope well with death. particularly when it's someone i know at least fairly well.

2) it's very difficult to conceal the fact that you like a patient. especially when you see them on a pretty regularly basis. even moreso when the patient has found it in themselves to share the interest they have in you.

3) just because parents aren't divorced, doesn't mean they're still a happy family. or still in love. or that they even like each other for that matter. maybe they aren't divorced because of another reason entirely.

Preparations

We got the news earlier this week that *gasp* my brother and his wife are having another baby!! The newbie will make 5 nephews in total for me. I kinda sorta deep down in my subconcious mind wish that it was a girl, so badly. I just want one.... But it's cool, a new baby is a new baby =0) And I promise to spoil him just like his older (still little) brother, because they're just like me. Yes i will be living vicariously through them, spoiling them because they were born so far apart from their other siblings. Deep down I think i resent that a bit too...

I think in big brother's getting old, his math skills, or just his mental state itself, are going. fast. He called with the (belated) news of his wife's pregnancy and informed us all that his wife is 6 months pregnant as of March 25th, and is due in August. I'm going to give that a minute to set in.

Now for all of you who just did that math, you see my concern right? Because if pregnancy has extended itself from 9 to 11 months, I wil be finding myself a surrogate right now. Right now. Because my brain hurts everytime I think about it, I havent gotten around to calling him back and asking him to pick between the two. Although i hope she's 6 months pregnant so that he can b born in June like the other 3. I know what he does when september rolls around....

For the new season (and the new year) I decided to go a different way with my hair.

I did blonde back in 2005. It lasted until early 2007...I missed the contrast.

So i decided this year to go with an auburn, which has been received pretty well. I also did a shorter cut, just under my ears. I've never had my hair this short before. ever. I'm pretty sure if relaxers were allowed on babies, the afro I was born with would have stretched to my shoulders. Evidently it goes well with my skin tone? My mother was generous with her freckles but decided to keep her ginger-kid hair all to herself. It's cool, I forgive her ^_^

Tomorrow's my first day of work. I've been anxious about it all day. Food is the enemy right now. As is having to sit still. I've been pacing the house all day. I'm beyond ready to start this job but as with anything new, there's always that nervous energy. Gonna go Spider-man around my room before bed. Pray i actually fall asleep....

More than one road

SO, happy news (to me), maybe a little less to others. But a goal is a goal. Other news, sad news, business as usual. Since i'm not sure how to get to it all, i'll just list.

1) Christmas was...just another day. Really and truly. I wish i could've been able to score the suit I need, or ma's computer so she can type-practice...which will hopefully lead to a job next yr (cross your fingers). But things just didnt work out the way I'd have liked to. Maybe next Christmas will find a different story. It's a shame money isnt a 'righteous' gift anymore. It's official that i'm an adult. Thank goodness I have new year's to look forward to.

2) My sleeping disorder has gotten a tad bit worse. I made it into bed at 7 this morning, sleep by 730, up by 12. Its become my new thing. I dont even concern myself with it anymore, its a fixture. My mother got up for work at 6 and found me cleaning my room and then working out hard-fucking-core. I figure, if i'm going to be up all night, why not involve myself with everything possible? Put the nighttime to good use I say.

3) Because I was up, out, and busy handling business all day, i neglected to eat, A fact that didnt bother me until my tummy started to gurgle at about...9 or so this evening. Due to some...unfortunate series of events (mostly me boycotting all fast food on a whole. i'm sorry New Jack. lol), I will inevitably get through this day without eating at all. But then two things happened (this is where some of u may get iffy, while I continue to say 'hooray'). 1- I hopped on the scale and have (so far) lost 5lbs 2oz...today alone. Ballin, i know. 2- The thought of food, even imagining the smell, actually made me nauseous. Like i physically gagged. Which immediately took away any desire my stomach had to eat in the 1st place. Works for me.

4) I've officially deduced that....minimal sleep, forgoing eats, and throwing yourself into work and working out, will get the job done, in a pretty short amount of time even. you can all question it if u want...the proof is in the pudding. I'm gonna be fierce when I get on that cruise....

5) One of my friends, going back to grade school, lost her child on Christmas Eve. And although I am not close to her, I dont think anyone deserves to lose something as precious as a child. My heart goes out to her and her boyfriend, it couldnt have happened at a worse time. However short his time was here, he's in a greater place now, i'm sure of it.

6) Father dearest told me a great coming of age tale. A tale that, quite literally, encompasses the time I almost didnt exist. Follow along - Once upon a time, when he was 17 (back in his smoking days), daddy dearest was a bit of a thief. He stole...a few things, things to help get him by at home. On this particular night, he was siphoning gas. As he siphoned gas into his carrying bucket, he thought he'd check on the status. (imagine a big tide container, costco/BJ's variety). So he reached into his pocket, and lit his lighter, holding it over the opening of the container. Within the same second, the wind suddenly picked up and *poof* out went the lighter. In the next few seconds it occured to him that gas was indeed very flammable, particularly when its running into a container, spilling all around said container, and in the presence of a live flame. It was at that point that he tossed his lighter, got up and took his canister with him away, realizing how idiotic his decision had been. If not for divine intervention, I wonder where I'd be. I'd be a white kid somewhere in CT i'm sure (look into and rent "The Eye 2" it explains why. deep stuff).
